Very Descriptive Pennsylvania Farm Auction Tuesday

January 12, 2017

I love all types of auctions…sales with shiny equipment are great, but so are sales with equipment that isn’t so shiny, sales that feature good solid condition stuff, just in its work clothes so to speak.

Like Karl Hess’s farm retirement auction Tuesday (January 17, 2017) in Conestoga, PA. This sale will be by my friends at Leaman Auctions (http://www.leamanauctions.com).

No matter what kind of equipment is on a sale, one thing I really like to see are more in depth descriptions on equipment items than we’re used to seeing. Once again, like on Karl Hess’s farm retirement auction Tuesday in Conestoga, PA. Check out the description from the sale bill on Karl’s JD 4630 tractor:

John Deere 4630 Tractor with 6,300 Hours

“Quad, cab,  one ownerbought new in November 1975 from Shotzbergers Equipment in Elm, Pa. It is a one owner tractor with about 6,300 hours. Other than to replace a cracked ring at about 500 hours (1978) the engine has never been touched, has had oil changes at 100 hour intervals. The transmission was worked on about 6,000 hours to replace the clutch packs in the quad range transmission. Karl still has the door sticker that came with the tractor from the factory listing the original suggested retail prices and the options that were factory installed. Radial tires became available and the original inner bias tires were put in a barn along with the duals for possible use in the future. The tires that were on the tractor when it left the factory, as well as the duals with matching tread  (approx 40% ) are available and will be sold after the tractor. If someone restored this they could have a tractor very close to how it left the factory in November 1975 with the door sticker and the original rear tires that came with the tractor.”

This planter is ground wheel drive and GPS compatible. This planter is equipped with all that is necessary for a GPS unit to turn row units on and off, according to where you are in the field and will eliminate double planting as the GPS can turn off individual row units that would double plant an area already planted.  There are several pallets of parts and accessory's to go with this planter to allow a variety of different planting possibilities."
